What I want from this class???

What I want to get out of this class is a complete understanding of Entrepreneurship from all perspectives of the field. I call myself an entrepreneur, as I own a couple companies (LLC’s) that I have started on my own. However I will be the first to admit that I am only trying to master one position at a time. I believe strongly in our class project of writing a business plan and having the opportunity to present a business plan to someone who has seen several is a blessing. I am truly looking to invest in this class as I to write a real business plan that I plan to pursue.

I am very interested in the financing category of entrepreneurship I know most of businesses; especially venture capitalist comes down to money! I want to know what they are looking for in a product or service that is being pitched to them.  In addition, I want learn and start mastering the layouts and outlines of a strong business plan. Shark Tank and The Profit have become my favorite TV shows as they strongly relate to this class.

Furthermore I want to engage with students throughout the class in expressing ideas and desired innovations. That is my number one pit fall is getting my ideas out of my mouth and expressing my opinion on my ideas. I think our class discussions will be a vital tool for me to take full advantage of.  I feel that’s the number one weakness on shark tank is the pitch because even if you have the idea, if you can get it out clearly and translated to venture capitalist; before you know it they have a low ball offer for a significant percentage of equity.

In all, I think it’s important to learn from your surrounds and resources. With Andrew having an extensive background I feel we couldn’t have a better lecture and mentor. Moreover, with reading material through the quarter, discussing our ideas out loud, and most importantly creating a business plan will be tools that set us up for the future. I hope to have a real business plan that I personally fund 6 months from now. I look forward to the challenge and this quarter!
